Medical Imaging and Laboratory Services
ExecHealth clients benefit from laboratory and imaging services which can be arranged on an expedited basis.
Results for laboratory services (e.g. blood testing, fecal occult blood testing, electrocardiograms,) are obtained within 48 hours and medical imaging (e.g. MRI, CT, PET scans) can be scheduled within 24-48 hours.
Types of services available:
Magnetic Resonance Imaging:
Magnetic Resonance Imaging: produces high resolution, three dimensional, cross sectional digital images of internal bone structures and soft tissues-including the brain, heart, blood vessels, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons. It is a non-invasive and painless tool for diagnosing injuries and illnesses.
Computed Tomography (CT):
During a routine X-ray, dense tissues can block certain areas. Aided by the computer, a CT scan is able to put together different “slices” and clearly show both bone and soft tissue. CT is used to detect tumours and other conditions affecting bones and internal organs. It is also used to detect the occurrence of strokes, hemorrhages and infections.
Positron Emission Tomography:
PET is a powerful diagnostic test that is the most advanced medical diagnostic imaging technology available today for the early and accurate detection of cancer and its recurrence. PET can also give physician’s important early information about heart disease and many neurological disorders, like Alzheimer’s and the tracking of cancer (including lung, colorectal, breast and prostate cancers), heart disease and brain disorders (including, Parkinson’s disease and seizure disorders )
X-Ray and Fluoroscopy:
X-Rays utilize roentgen rays to penetrate the body and record images of organs and structures on film. X-Ray’s are one of the most frequently used imaging modalities.
Abdominal Ultrasound:
Abdominal Ultrasound is a radiology technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of the abdomen and pelvic organs, including the liver, pancreas, spleen and ovaries. It can also detect cysts, tumours or abscess in the abdomen or liver: impaired blood flow to the legs, and aneurysms of the aorta.
Bone Mass Densitometry (BMD):
BMD measures the density of your bones to assess your risk of osteoporosis. This non-invasive test will be performed if indicated to screen for osteoporosis.
